Top 10 Evaluations of Importance

Sup readers,

I realize that it’s an exciting time of the year again and there are tons of emotions, thoughts & feelings surrounding the holidays. I felt that rather than write my thoughts about the holidays or it’s season, I would write about something that relates.

There are so many things going on today that it is very easy to forget what is really important. I am not the one to tell you what is and what isn’t, however I am the guy that will proceed to share with you how I evaluate importance.

1) Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff.

2) Say what you mean and mean what you say because those that matter, won’t mind and those that mind, don’t matter.

3) Believe in your own ability to have an opinion but, be open to listening to others’ thoughts without jumping ship from your own beliefs. We are all different and have different experiences.

4) Ask for help; that’s why we have friends and contacts! Thinking you can do everything yourself is naive in this day and age so pull over and ask someone for directions, save time.

5) When upset know when to table things and know when to bring them up. There are plenty of people complaining every single day. Are you one of them or the other kind that just tables it for later, if necessary, and keeps on making moves?

6) Sleep it off, whatever it is… Sick, upset, tired, achy, depressed, irritated… Doesn’t matter! Sleep it off. Take a nap, wake up and if you’re not feeling better then address it.

7) Say “Hi!” There are 80 different ways to communicate yet we never seem to get it right. How’s this possible?

8. This is very important! If you have something nice to say to a person, SAY IT. Stop assuming they “already know.” The problem is that everyone may think the very same thing and guess what, no one says it. Take responsibility for your thoughts and speak! I promise you your kind words will not go unnoticed.

9) Gossip, Twitter Terrorists, Rumors, Hearsay, Facebook are the end of the world and its Privacy! Yes there are filters and safety features but here is an idea…. DON’T PUT IT UP. Seriously! And for those who live and swear by getting your facts from FaceBook and Twitter, get a life… #NuffSaid.

10) To me the most important thing to round out this list, and please keep in mind that these are just what popped in my head while blogging, it is YOU! All You. You You You. Never forget there is a You and You cannot take care of anyone or anything if You haven’t first taken care of You.

All in all enjoy the following photo. This guy is kind of a big deal and I read this once a day to remind myself of the things that matter and especially of the things that don’t.

Talk to you soon! Always #MakeMoves not noise…

Top 10 things NOT to do with an iPhone

Not in any particular order…

1) Never Complain! It’s an iPhone not a hockey puck! This thing can do things that belonged in E.T.’s Space craft. In fact even he would’ve been all like “E.T.  iPhone home” #JuSayin the phone is easily one if the greatest technological breakthroughs of our time and will make history books for your grandchildren, so remember this before u start shaking it for better cell coverage, (clowns) and yes I’ve done it LOL.

2) You don’t need to take it off of a charger. They keep saying it has more battery life, and maybe so?! Power cycling!? I’ve heard all about it. But, the average consumer is not going to notice the difference from Monday the 1st to Tuesday the 1st of the next month. Trust me! The tests they use to figure that stuff out is far beyond what we do or my pay grade. So charge away!!

3) Never ever put it over a toilet, trash or sink! Let’s be honest people, the iPhone goes where you go, especially after Taco and Fajita night (Yum). I know you’re thinking, “But, how else can you keep up on social media Facebook stalking and talking smack (that you would never say to someone’s face) on Twitter, or reading the last few pages of 50 Shades of Grey, while you’re creating artwork in your respective lavatory receptacle?!” Get a life people, and put your phone somewhere safe for a few minutes! Flickers, FB Stalkers and Twitter Terrorists = LAME!

4) Never keep inappropriate photos on your phone. Cut it out. You don’t need them! They can only cause grief and embarrassment. LOL! Girls, stop showing yourself to the world through photos! How ‘bout this: if a guy wants to see you maybe he should just spend time with you! OMG I’m a genius, and side note, the kissy face is GROSS and not sexy at all so remove that from your repertoire entirely please. I’m pretty sure 10% of the female population can even pull it off, so, take a good look in a mirror and ask a real friend if you’re in that % or not. I’m doing you a favor here.

5) Please do not allow others to hold your phone! It is not their prized possession and they will not treat it as such. They will easily become distracted and your phone will be the victim. Even better, case or no case they will put your phone anywhere on any surface as they cannot appreciate the angel-like delicacy of the iPhones casing. I’m talking to every other phone carrier out there! Notice how Apple doesn’t make commercials digging other companies? Exactly! Because when you’re on the top there’s no one to throw digs at.

6) Pay careful attn to this one! DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT take part in any GROUP MESSAGING. It’s your nightmare! There’s always someone on the group that you don’t know and apparently their life will be over because you responded “to all”. Sometimes people don’t even know who’s in the group and start chomping off insults while the other person is reading the whole thing. Men, women love catching you doing bad things so next time you get hit with 20 Q’s it could be a set up. Two girls group messaging one guy asking all sorts of questions, Dude really? It’s over for you. Learn how to use your phone.

7) Open pockets, lose purses and butter fingers are not suited to iPhone users! So stop and put it inside something secure and safe. If you are able to walk around with a safe DO IT. Or purchase an Otterbox! It’s huge and completely messes up the look of the phone but it will be safe!

8.) Don’t save numbers like this “Dad Cell” or “Becky Work” it’s ridiculous. Remember… Most amazing device ever? When you save a name you can apply a “work, home, or iPhone” to the number. It really isn’t a big deal, but, I will point it out and laugh at you if I see it otherwise. A part two to this is: Don’t buy an iPhone and not know how to use it… Multitasking, Multi-Gesturing, Cut-Copy-Pasting, Emoticons, Landscape Mode, Hard Reset, Instant Camera, Photo Sharing, Siri, iTunes, Screen Shots, Sharing multiple photos at once? Please know these things or bring the phone back. It’s like have a Ferrari and riding in the trunk with the music off in the slow lane. LMAO.

9) This is more for the Playa’s and Play-Ettes of the world who think they are so smart turning the phone to silent but allowing it to vibrate. I don’t know the exact statistic but I’m pretty sure everyone on the planet now has an ear for a vibrating phone. So, leaving it on vibrate only tells the person you are either trying to be polite and not have your phone ringing ORRR you’re trying to hide all of those awesome text messages and phone calls coming through that are just “FRIENDS” lol. P.S. ever notice when a female has a call, and it’s not a secret, the name is always announced BUT when it is someone else all we hear is “Friend???” #SideNote #JuSayin.

10) Let me repeat again this list is in NO particular order of importance it’s just how they came to me. : )

Recently Apple developed this amazing technology called iMessage which is the equivalent to Wack-Berries internal communication line (BBM I believe it is called.) If you are unfamiliar with this amazing-ness it gives a receipt of a read message and tells you if it was delivered to the other person with iMessage. Amazing except that the world thinks it’s the CIA and removes this option leaving the sender curious. Look people, if you text me and I don’t text back, it’s for 1 of 3 reasons. 1) I’m actually busy at the moment and can’t respond efficiently enough to your question or statement, 2) Whatever you wrote requires an actual thought and I’m processing it to respond the best way possible rather than answering your “I miss you so much” text with an “ok” response (we all know how that feels) or  3) Yeah it was delivered and yeah I read it and I didn’t respond… Read between the lines people I just don’t want to talk to you. Nothing personal but nothing your saying at the time is worth responding to at that time. Or you’re a crazy psycho, text too much, repeat yourself, you have a knack for arguing via text, which all pretty much explains itself.

Now go get yourself an APPLE PRODUCT and join the rest of society. Hope you got a chuckle because I certainly did writing this one. Have a good day and #MakeMoves

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

As I’ve mentioned, I’m not huge into the scary movie thing, but I do find myself watching some during the month of October when I happen to be home and can’t figure out what to watch. The Roomies (or the Happy Couple) are always watching them in the living room during October, so sometimes I find myself grabbing one too. Some of those have included:

28 days/weeks later movies

–          I like the second one better than the first (I know I know.. sequel, really?!) BUT, if I’m going to watch a zombie movie, I want it to be a zombie movie. The first one was fine until they get to the base (won’t give any spoilers) and, as a film, I understand the element of the” living trying to survive” aspect and drama etc. But, I just enjoyed the second one being more zombie-centric.

Halloween (remake) movies (I know I know.. remake?! I don’t own the originals)

(maybe all of the judgement from the movies I want to watch is why I don’t watch these.. hmm)

Dusk Til Dawn (Salma Hayek.. nuff said)

I hope you all had fun! And, as always, were safe (and send me pics of your costumes below, to my FB or Twitter/Instagram @KlassUniversal or @KupahJames!)

Final Note: My thoughts go out to all families that were affected by Sandy this week. It’s important to appreciate what you have; tomorrow is never promised. 2 live is 2 love.

HOLLAween

Hey Everyone, I just realized how complicated it was to leave a comment on my blog! Fixed that, so hopefully you will find it much easier to leave your thoughts, about my thoughts, each week? Also you will notice at the bottom, you can Like the blog through FaceBook, Pinterest and other social media outlets like Twitter. I tried to make it really easy to share with your friends, co-workers etc. So please don’t hesitate to share with anyone and everyone. I appreciate all of your emails, texts, and calls about the quality and messages my blogs have provided. I’m trying to hit 500 subscribers, so again, please share with others!

It’s that time of year! Where people either put on their masks or take them off; Lol. Per usual I wanted to think of something crafty and cool with swag, but, it’s Oct 24th and I have NOTHING. #GRRR. So, last minute trying to think of what to do with what I have!? Any ideas!? I know a group of guys playing mobsters and a few ladies doing the whole naughty cop, nurse, maid thing. Way to keep it original Ladies… LOL

Halloween or as I call it HOLLAween has always been just another day for me, nothing too exciting. I have thrown a bunch of parties where I live or gone to a few in the past, but as far as trouping it up to Salem and all that… No Thanks. HOWEVER, I have found great interest in the interests of others.

Source: Google Image Search for Halloween (orig from: brandthunder.com)

What I have found, and find quite interesting, is how many people walk around all year wearing a costume and actually use Halloween as their day to let the real person show. I think that’s pretty cool. Think about it; many of us wear uniforms or have a dress code for work, play, kids’ soccer games and cocktail dinners. There’s even a strict dress code to go clubbing in the city. BUT on Halloween there is NO DRESS CODE. In fact, you’re supposed to do whatever, be whatever and imitate anything you want. That’s pretty dope when you think about it.

Then there is the scary part: Witches, Ghosts, Goblins etc. Ummmm Ok. The last time I was scared was watching Thriller while being babysat by an older cousin. I couldn’t have been older than 6. At the end of the video when he turns and has the crazy cat eyes and starts laughing… What?! OH HELLL NO. I cried until my face hurt! LOL. Since then the scary thing was never my fancy, just doesn’t interest me much but I can appreciate the movie genre.

So let’s try to open this up? What scares you, or what movies are you still afraid of, fears you may have, memories that still give you goose bumps? Ill go first!

To this day whenever I drink Vodka I have nightmares. I don’t mean about demons and exorcisms. I mean like I crash my car and miss an event or my loved one and I have a huge falling out which causes a divide of some sort.

Your turn!

Summer 2012 ReKap

I had a great Summer and had a ton of fun – I am more than sad to see it go, but, I’m glad to have the opportunity to look back on it and highlight some of it in a Summer ReKap for you all!

(I know Summer isn’t officially over for about another week and a half BUT after Labor Day passes and Chocolate Bar starts up, it becomes the Fall for me)

HERE WE GO!

Had to go with my Top 3 for these first few (Summer had WAY too many awesome things going on!):

  • -Movie: Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus.
  • -Song: Only One by Chris Lake, She Wolf by David Guetta, Don’t you worry Child by Swedish House Mafia
  • -Venue: MiniBar still going strong On Mondays and Emerald is Growing Quickly! One Memorable Royale Night with Cito and Behrang (Miss those Guys)
  • -Creative Talent: Somebody that i used to know (Cover) By Walk off the Earth STILL AMAZING
  • -New Grown & Sexy Spot: Emerald Lounge (see my review in this post,) The Seaport has been amazing for the Summer*
  • -New Equipment: New Rayn Mixer “62” Any questions?! Haha
  • -New Experience: Started riding a Motorcycle; dropped the first day and been riding ever since. Indescribable!
  • Funniest Moment: Oh man, in my life there are so many…
  • Best Moment: Fire at a Friends house talking and reminiscing until Sunrise. That’s a good life!
  • New Thing I Learned: How to buy a Condo and How to Ride a Crouch Rocket!
  • New Thing I Got Into or, I am Interested in: Reading is growing on me little by little and I may have caught myself watching episodes of Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix… OMG SMH….
  • New Challenge: Developing my organization skills and attempting to grow to the next level in entertainment. Fitness is still a strong passion and strengthening my relationships with friends and family. That last one is especially important because you are a result of who you surround yourself with. Deny till you die but it is what it is.
How was your Summer? What were some of your favorite moments/experiences? Any new spots, movies or songs I should be digging into?!
Until next time……….

Chocolate Bar is Back for the Fall!

I am very excited to tell you all that Chocolate Bar is back, TOMORROW! The Chocolate Bar is featured at Cafe Fleuri in the Langham Hotel in Boston.

The Chocolate Bar is set up with a variety of stations that offer all different types of chocolate treats, desserts and food. The Langham Hotel describes it as such:

“The decadent Chocolate Bar features stations with varying levels of chocolate intensity and flavors – from white to dark and everything in between. A DJ plays hit music to set a fun, upbeat tone where families indulge in close to 200 pounds of premium chocolate each Saturday. A never-ending supply of cupcakes, truffles, brulees, bread pudding, crepes, whoopee pies and more take center stage while Executive Pastry Chef Jed Hackney creates rotating items with fresh, seasonal ingredients such as September’s lemon madeline with ivoire cremeax and strawberries, and a caramelized white chocolate torte with banana and sesame.

The DJ is yours truly 😉 They also serve chocolate based cocktails that can be included as a part of the package price. I look forward to the Chocolate Bar every year because it is so much fun (and we all know how much I love to have my fun!) Everyone enjoys it, the location is beautiful and you have awesome views of the city. The food options are always changed up a bit, like they mentioned in the excerpt from above, and it never disappoints.

If you have any friends or family visiting, bachelorette parties coming up, etc it’s a great place to bring them. It’s a unique experience and it’s in a great location to show anyone around Boston – and just in case it wasn’t clear.. it’s CHOCOLATE (who doesn’t love that?)

Until the end of next June, I will be there every Saturday from 11a – 3pm and I hope to see as many of you there as possible :)

Also, for something equally enjoyable and delicious, every Sunday at Cafe Fleuri they have their Sunday City Brunch. The best brunch option in Boston (in my humble opinion) while live jazz music is played.

If you’re looking for something to do around Boston during the day or as a visitor or for visitors – Saturday morning/afternoon at the Chocolate Bar and Sunday City Brunch. Then you can always check out Bond at night. Mentioned in this previous post; and your weekend in Boston is complete – word!

Tour of Boston: Hotel Indigo- BOKX

It’s that time again! Another new spot to share: This spot is not actually in Boston; it’s in Newton(399 Grove St, Newton, Ctr). But, close enough! I used to grab dinner and drinks here a few years ago from time to time but this Summer I’ve really gone quite a bit, had a gig there on July 4th and thought it’d be a good place to share with all of you!

It’s the Hotel Indigo. They have a restaurant/lounge called Bokx 109 and the Bokx pool. These places are really what I’d like to tell ya about! The food is good and there are a lot of options! It can be a little pricey and the kitchen is closed from 4-5pm (random!?), but the food and drinks are good enough where it’s not really a negative for me. The service is OUTSTANDING and friendly. Shout out to Elliot (fave bartender), Kim (fave server) and Jay (General Manager.) Jay was polite and seemed to work alongside his staff, which I respect. 100% KJ #CoSigned

When you’re outdoors, which I highly recommend doing there, it has a vacation-like atmosphere.   You don’t feel like you’re near Boston or in New England at all. The water is always perfect and refreshing; surrounded by super comfy chairs LOL!

It’s exclusive: not a lot of people know about it (until now!) But, like any place there are some elements that aren’t the best. The area is pretty small and can be tight.. it can be hard to come by chairs and to have enough space if you’re with a lot of friends. There’s an expensive price of admission out there ($20-25).. Personally, I think they should have a package situation that includes admission, chairs and maybe a drink or appetizer. BUT, all of that being said it really is fun and I love being there {as you can see 😉 }

I’d love to hear about any recommendations you have!

The Stuff Legends are Made Of..

Last week I came across this article posted on the New York Times website (cited below) about an interview with one of my all-time heroes and my favorite athlete of all time: Michael Jordan.  It revolved around a question in response to claims from Kobe Bryant that the 2012 USA Squad could beat the 1992 Dream Team. The question, “Was the 1992 Dream Team better than the 2012 USA Squad?” We all know what I would answer to that LOL!! But, reading how Jordan handled that conversation was unreal. He displayed a lot of the qualities I love most about him; his humor, his intelligence, his passion for the game and his (earned) confidence.

He used facts to drop some serious knowledge on the situation in the following excerpt from the article, “I heard Kobe say we were not athletic,” said a smiling Jordan as he sat in a golf cart puffing on his cigar while waiting to tee off. “But we were smart. He said we were too old, but I was 29 and in the prime of my career. Pip (Scottie Pippen) was 26 or 27, (Charles) Barkley was 29, Patrick (Ewing) was 29 and Chris Mullin was 29. Almost everybody was still in their twenties.” “

The end is where the best quote from the article is, solidifying Michael Jordan’s status as #LEGEND No questions asked. “..I’d like to think that we had 11 Hall of Famers on that team and whenever they get 11 Hall of Famers you call and ask me who had the better Dream Team. Remember now, they learned from us. We didn’t learn from them.” (I just got chills)

There’s where the lesson to take away from the entire article, and what I wanted to point out here, truly lies. There should be a humble respect and acknowledgment for the lessons learned and the examples shown. Dedication and discipline to and in the game led Jordan and the Dream Team to the successes they had. Talent was without a doubt part of that, but as we can see from the arguments Jordan makes, it’s not the only thing.

Take the gifts and passions you have, apply hard work, stay motivated and you will find respectable, genuine and honorable success. #MakeMoves!

The entire article was a fun read, I strongly suggest you check it out and let me know your thoughts!

Tour of Boston: New Hotspot.. Emerald Lounge in Boston

Hey Everybody! How’s your week going?! I had mentioned in my last blog that I had an amazing new spot to share with you… It’s the new Emerald Lounge that’s opening with the new Revere Hotel in Boston!

I was able to get an inside look Memorial Day weekend.. but it’s official opening is TOMORROW. Now, I myself had some doubts about the name but be sure to ask someone the story behind it because it’s pretty #Klassy .

When asking about the story, you’ll hear about this whirlwind design that crosses the ceiling and goes down to the floor in the bar area that makes for a very innovative visual effect. The layout is groovy with an almost 70s feel. There are LED lights, very colorful with an AMAZING sound system. The sound system is set up to control every angle of the room; which is more accommodating for people. The couches and lounge areas are all open and spread out, it gives off a very comfortable and #Klassy vibe.

The food and drinks were great! I tried the lobster rangoon, cheese and meat board and coconut shrimp (no utensils needed.) They have some interesting twists to classic drinks. They muddle their cocktails with fresh fruit (huge fan of that!)

The service was really good; they’re definitely making an attempt at raising the level of service in Boston. The bartenders were informative and helpful. The staff and service really add to the experience at Emerald Lounge.

I’m interested to see what will happen as a result of the location; the neighborhood is on the edge of an area that has a bad rep but I’m optimistic.

Emerald Lounge is officially KJ #CoSigned. I really have to admit this place has made me excited for Boston and Boston’s nightlife. I had a great experience there and I highly recommend you all check it out and please let me know YOUR thoughts about Emerald Lounge!
