Spring into New Beginnings

Now that Easter has passed and it’s officially Spring, I wanted to talk about something you should all make a point to try out…. Day Dating!

Day dating is usually cheaper than night dating, but can be more rewarding. Today it can be very difficult meeting someone of a similar nature with common interests and personalities. So if and when you do, a Day date may be the best route. It allows you to see the person and interact, talk, share, listen, laugh and of course ASSESS and Analyze. Trust me, as a Male I analyze with the best of them.

Day dating gives you an opportunity to COMMUNICATE! Get to KNOW the other person, get to ENJOY the other person, and get to RECONNECT with the other person. These are all really important things to achieve and maintain. Relationships aren’t always easy so you should enter them with an honest impression and understanding of each other and then, it’s equally important to keep things fresh and exciting! In other words, keep it #Authentic!

Do an activity that allows the opportunity to talk, discuss, share, eat and LAUGH. Try to ask questions that really allow you to get to know the person and see if there’s a real connection. Be honest with them and with yourself. Then, definitely go for it 😉

………Hold their hand! (What’d you think I meant?) Ha! KJ #CoSigned

If you’re already a couple, go on day dates to keeps things interesting! Don’t maintain a routine. Make a real EFFORT to try something new. To try something you DON’T want to do (you may surprise yourself.) Ask your person about a topic you don’t know about and LEARN FROM them. Tell them something THEY don’t know. Encourage each other. Give yourselves opportunities to grow!

I’d first recommend that you DON’T go to the movies. But, if going to the movies is completely your thing, switch it up. Go to a movie that you’d never see, or let them pick one, and then you pick one. You may find you’ve enjoyed something different, or you can make fun of the experience later and laugh over the idea that you actually watched them. Just talk about it afterwards and stick it between an activity and a meal before or after that allows you to COMMUNICATE!

As always, I would LOVE to hear what you all think and any fun day date ideas you may have?!

#KupahJames Recap from the Past Month

On looking back at the past month I realize how much FUN I’ve had! It can be crazy running a business and it can be exciting and creative and challenging and #motivating and (yes this could be about 10 blogs! So, I digress HA!) But, I’ve really been having a BLAST and trying out a lot of new or different things and looking at life in different and fun ways! SO I thought I’d share some of that and give you all a look into this past month at things you may not normally hear about from me!

In the past month:

My Favorite:
-Movie: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-Song: Somebody that I used to know by Gotye f/Kimbra
-Creative Talent: “Walking Off the Earth”
-Venue: The New Revere Hotel
-New Grown & Sexy Spot: Minibar on Monday’s “Unplugged”
-New Equipment: Beats by Dre Pro headphones and IPAD 3! Phenomenal
-New EXPERIENCE: HONEY WHISKEY!!! What?! TRUE FAN FOR LIFE

Funniest Moment: A new friend wore my Jordan Concords at Bond on Sat night (They were more comfortable than her heels.)

New Thing I Learned: That my fire is not everyone elses and I’m trying to learn how to deal with that concept. #NotEZ

New Thing I Got Into or, I am Interested in: I’m in interested in a new book I put down months ago but recently picked back up. Emotional Intelligence #YES

New Challenge (We all face ’em!): My Challenge is my gift; that is to assist in spreading the contagion of smiling and laughter to everyone that I come in contact with.

Best Moment: Easy! Having a conversation with a complete stranger recently. Which was also the best part of that night. Expect the UnExpected… 😉

Sidenote from the Past Month: Had the most mature argument with a Close Friend and nobody stormed off or got offended! Can you believe it? Both of us were objective and stayed on task to come to an understanding about our differences of opinion. Both of us listened to the other, both were open minded to other possibilities, and both are even closer now because of it! I think it’s because both of us entered into it with NO EGO.

-TIP for the next time you get in an argument: try to lose the ego and understand that someone you care about is not attacking you, nor are they attempting to insult you by expressing a thought, or a concern. Perhaps w/o the ego one might be able to see the real issue and begin to efficiently solve the problem. #JuSayn

As always, I’d love to hear what new or fun things YOU all have been up to or experienced lately!! #Share

Tour of Boston: Where were you for St. Patrick’s Day?!

St. Patrick’s Day is definitely one of the most heavily celebrated events in Boston. Could it be Southie, the Boston Celtics, Movie “The Town,”  “The Departed,” and their insane embellishment of our accents? (I digress). It seems like every year it’s all anyone is talking about and I’m constantly being asked where I’m going to be and if I celebrate.  Truth is, it’s just like any other weekend for me & #Klass. Meaning: fun, exciting and filled with music and dancing. In other words, worked a few gigs!

This year St. Patty’s Day was on a Sat, which means I was spinning at Chocolate Bar, then I made a special appearance at Red Lulu in Salem, Ma. I love the Chocolate Bar even though I don’t eat much of the chocolate. The Langham Boston Hotel is a dope spot. Right in the heart of the Financial District, the hotel is home to one of my favorite spots; BOND and Cafe Fleuri. Cafe Fleuri has the most amazing, over the top brunch w/live Jazz (perfect for the the next morning). Seriously check that out on Sundays, and Chocolate Bar on Saturdays is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Who isn’t obsessed with Chocolate?!

I won’t even begin to describe how much of an adrenaline rush I had after spinning for Red Lulu on Saturday night. I don’t get behind the DJ booth too much for 2 reasons: 1) Dj Kazz and the rest of the #Klass Dj’s are far better than I, 2) It’s incredibly difficult to stay back there while everyone else is dancin’ it up. Ha! However when I do get back there, It’s a completely different type of fun for me! Red Lulu is a new sexy spot on Lafayette St. Salem, MA. The sister of Lolita in Boston and they both never fail to impress in any regard. I was able to play songs from all kinds of genres and that was easily the best part. From Peter Gabriel, to the Police, to Diddy, Maino, Rihanna, Kings of Leon I mean the list goes on. Crazy Good Time!

Both Lolita of Boston and Lulu of Salem are KJ #CoSigned! Amazing food; I’ve seriously never had anything from there that I didn’t love. Salmon Coco and Shrimp Tacos Please! O,r if you are the healthy type peep their version of the Caesar salad (Try the Croutons) & the drinks are unparalleled. They’re creative and different; every drink is muddled with fresh ingredients/fruit and the menu continues to evolve. Some of my personal favorites are the Bonita, White Lie, Gin Blossom & Diablo margarita. They’re always integrating some new seasonal drinks and menu items soon so check back for any new recommendations!

So how many of you #Bostonians DID go to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Southie? Any good spots YOU can recommend? Please feel free to respond to this blog and yes I’m serious I want to know what you did!

#Klassroom Tour of Boston

There are many great places in this world and I plan on conquering quite a few in my lifetime. But, Boston is one of the #Klassiest. I am so proud to live here, and by living in Boston I mean living in the general vicinity of Boston HA!

Can we take a moment to appreciate all that this city has to offer?! I know they call America a melting pot, but if one American city could represent that best it would be Boston. Boston has so many different groups and types of people, places, cultural experiences, and HISTORY. It’s a city where you can walk from one neighborhood where you know you’ve got to keep your head down and not look anyone in the eye, to dapping up strangers and asking for directions. You can walk by a girl who’s in a business suit and looks sexy, but totally reserved and conventional in Govt Center and then see her late night breaking it down on the dance floor to Kanye and Jay-Z.

#Bostonians are smart. It’s a haven for education and on the flip side, is so culturally diverse you can make it successfully in pretty much any trade you’re passionate about. #Bostonians are tough. Whether its book or street smart, or both (which most #Bostonians are) they can hold their own in life and know how to survive. I firmly believe once you’re a #Bostonian you can take whatever life throws at you and survive anywhere else.

I’d like to have fun with this so I’m officially starting a Boston anthology of blog posts. Every few posts there will be one about Boston. It will include a Kupah James tour of Boston; my favorite places to hang out, dine, dance, see and shop as well as simply where I’m at or where Klass can be found any given weekend. And then, just some of my humble opinions and thoughts about Boston and #Bostonians of course.

To kick start this tour I’d take you to the Boston Public Library in Copley Square. It’s amazing. I head there in between meetings, I hold meetings there, and absorb all of the knowledge. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place. It’s motivating to be surrounded by so much information and power (because knowledge is power duh!). Check it out sometime you won’t be disappointed!

Go explore and tell me about YOUR experiences!

AOL’s Boston Authentic

Some four Months ago through a dear friend of mine whom I respect tremendously for her ability to MakeMoves as a Mother, Business Woman, Sexy, Driven, Smart and a Friend. She came across an amazing opportunity for me to be apart of an new cool original campaign for AOL.

AOL was searching for Boston Authentic’s or individuals they felt were original and unique in their everyday living. Out of 60 folks all doing wonderful things I was lucky enough to gain the attention enough to own a spot of 6! A Video/Photo shoot quickly ensued and then December 3rd 2011 wild postings began popping up all over Boston, Brighton, Cambridge and surrounding towns. Pandora, Taxis, Bus Shelters, Underground T Stations and ultimately a 20’x 60′ Billboard located at 1330 Boylston St Boston Ma.

The experience has been amazing and I have received tons of positive feedback and compliments for the campaign as well as numerous leads on other opportunities. I’m completely amped about what is next but I felt that so many people have been asking “How, Who” etc. I decided to explain to those who may still be interested in my role and how it came to be. The campaign is now in its 10th week when it was only supposed to be one month! R U Kidding Me!?

Thanks for all of your support throughout this chapter in my life. Hopefully the next one will be just as exciting and I hope you stick around for the ride!
